04 Nov Buy North East & Latest Contract Win
DF Communications’ latest contract win proves once again north-east firms can compete on the international stage.
Aberdeen-based DF Communications has enhanced the telecommunications on board emergency response and rescue response vessels (ERRVs) managed by North Star Shipping, owned by global shipping and energy services company, Craig Group.
This latest contract strengthens a 15-year relationship between DF Communications and Craig Group, which has its headquarters in Aberdeen.
DF Communications has signed up to the Buy North East campaign which aims to place local procurement firmly on the business agenda. The drive was launched last month (October) by Aberdeen and Grampian Chamber of Commerce and Aberdeen Journals.
Craig Forsyth, sales director at DF Communications, said: “We’re delighted to join the Buy North East roll of honour. This is a fantastic initiative to encourage businesses across the region to use local suppliers.
“There are many excellent companies in the North East that offer high quality products and services. This should be celebrated and encouraged, and campaigns such as this provide clear focus to raise awareness of the talent on our doorstep.
“Our recent project with North Star Shipping, enhancing the telecommunications infrastructure on board its ERRVs, demonstrates our customer service credentials and I hope that it can give other large firms the confidence to consider using local suppliers to meet their business requirements.
“This is a first-class example of a relatively small business and a large company working together to develop a mutually beneficial relationship. Local firms can compete with national rivals provided they have the talent, expertise and customer service in place to deliver.”
DF improved the telecommunications network on board 32 North Star Shipping vessels using a VoIP solution which involves linking the devices to an internet connection allowing calls to be made. The technology provides the client with the option of installing any number of users depending on the requirements of each ship.
In addition, handsets can now be used in more locations than previously including engine rooms and onboard medical survival areas. Crew members, as a result, are less restricted in making calls than when using satellite-based communications systems.
DF Communications delivers mobile phone solutions, landline services, hands-free car solutions and vehicle tracking to local, national and international businesses.
In addition, its in-house agency, DF Creative, offers a range of design, digital and multimedia services including branding and graphic design, fully responsive web design, brochures, photography and video.
Established in 1986, DF also provides Wi-Fi solutions, handheld tablets such as iPads, mobile tracking systems and hands-free car kits.
